There is a lot of information to take from the beginning of your first class. If you do not want be lost and fail this class, I highly recommend that you use all of your organization skills, time management, and patience you have accumulated over the years of your education. Start early in everything! From day one, you will receive a gigantic pile of packets that will contain your survival guide to success in this course. You will need a calendar and a journal to write down important dates, observation assignments, requirements, and details. Keep track of your work and do all of it. You can never have too much extra credit, therefore optional assignments should become a necessary one. Ask lots and lots of question at the instant you have them, failure to do so may result in tremendous headaches, confusion, and misunderstandings. This is especially true because everything you learn ties in to each other over and over again. This course teaches you to take charge of your own destiny and learning, which is something we are all after right?Good luck!

Pay attention. Watch all the lectures and listen to everything that Kate and Maria talk about. I can guarantee that the people that did the worst in the class were the ones that didn’t invest any mental power into the actual course material.
Everything you need to succeed is handed to you at the very beginning of the semester. If you don’t understand something ask. Kate’s really nice and open to questions and will help you understand everything she can.
Set some real time aside for your observing journal. It’s more important for your understanding in the class than it seems at first. Don’t try to half-ass it or you’ll regret it later.
